Janko Kráľ Museum

Janko Kráľ.The museum is located in a historic building that was once the home of the poet Kráľ's parents and has been carefully restored to reflect the period in which the poet lived. The exhibition includes a wide range of artifacts and documents, including original manuscripts, letters, photographs, and personal items belonging to Kráľ and his family.

The museum building is one of the most prominent structures in the Mikuláš square. It has several names – Stoličný house, Illešházy manor, or Seligovský house. It is characterized by a massive triple arcade, unique in the town, which sets it apart from the other buildings on the western side of the square.Currently, one of the permanent exhibitions of the Ján Kráľ Museum, titled Chapters from the History of the Town of Liptovský Mikuláš, is housed in the Seligovský and adjacent Strauss house. The exhibition presents the city's history from ancient times to the end of World War II.It also includes a memorial room of the romantic poet and Mikuláš native Ján Kráľ.

In the underground spaces is located the Nicholas torture chamber, illustrating the so-called passive interrogation of the legendary bandit and folk hero Juraj Jánošík on the second day of his trial.Other permanent exhibitions of the Janko Kráľ Museum are located in the historical Evangelical parsonage on Tranovského Street (Tatrín and the Requests of the Slovak Nation) and in the birthplace of the Rázus siblings on Vrbická Street (Rázus House). The museum also manages the Jewish synagogue on Hollého Street, which is accessible to the public during the summer months.
